Union Advocacy Meeting on Stop Child Marriage Held

Advocacy meeting at union level on stop child marriage was held in Ketkhibari union of Doman upazila dated on 24th January, 2015 by USS and supported by Plan International Bangladesh. The advocacy meeting was chaired by Zahurul Houque Pramanik, Chairman of Ketkhibari union. In the meeting participants discussed on causes of child marriage, how to prevent child marriage, dowry, violence against girls and young women. After discussing these agendas participants made a plan to work on stop child marriage and declare child marriage free union. “If chairman and members are concern and have positive attitude it is possible to stop child marriage”, said Monira Begum, FWA of Ketkhibari union. All present participants said that it is our responsibility to keep our girls safe. In the meeting 20 participants were present. Girls and young women forum representatives, Youth, Family planning, marriage registers, Journalist, UP members, CSO representatives were participated in the meeting. The advocacy meeting was facilitated by Abdur Rahim, Technical Officer, girl power project, USS.
