Closing Ceremony Held of Girl Power Project at Domar Upazila

After five years successful completion of Girl Power Project closing event held at Domar upazila dated on 9th December, 2015 at Domar upazila auditorium hall room. Md. Abdur Razzak Bosunia, Chairman, Domar Upazila parishad was present as a chief guest and UNO of Domar Upazila was presided over the program. Among the other Alauddin Ali, Executive Director, USS, Md. Mozafor Hossain, President, Domar Press Club, Abdul Manan (Freedom Fighter), Acting Chairman of Boragari union, Rubaiat Hossain, President of Domar upazila CSO network were present special guests in the closing ceremony.  Pobon Malo, Project Coordinator presented targets, achievement, challenges and learning of the project through multimedia.  After a multimedia presentation an open discussion session was held and the participants actively participated in the discussion session. In the open discussion session member of upazila CSO network Touhida Joyati said that, “ I thank USS and Plan International Bangladesh for implemented such nice program for the girls and young women. The girls have learnt how to think positively through girl Power Project. Now they are moving into the service providing institutions and raising their voices”.  Participants from all corners expressed their feelings and learning by girl power project. “ It was our opportunity to learn karate training by the support of USS and Plan International Bangladesh. Now I am requesting UNO and upazila chairman to explore our skills and potentialities, said Prianti Akter, member of Girl and Young Women forum and received one month karate training. In the speeches of special guest executive director, USS said that, “It was a challenging project for us as because we allocated very limited manpower in the project and all success and credit goes to the CSO networks, youth forum, girls and young women forum and of course continuous cooperation of upazila administration. During the speeches of chief guest upazila chairman said that, “Girl Power project has contributed a lot to the dwellers of Domar upazila. I gave special thanks to USS and requesting for another such projects so that gradually whole upazila could be free of gender based violence specially child marriage”.  150 participants from girls and young women members, CSO representatives, CPG members, UP members, local elite’s representatives and NGO representatives were attended in the closing ceremony.  Sabiha Sultana, UNO of Domar upazila said that “I think Girl Power Project is successful. I can see the success of the project in front of me who are sharing their feelings here. But a project has life time and must be finished within mentioned time. Though GPP is going to be closed but it has showed us how to work for the well being of girls and young women. We will keep up its activities from our end and expecting another project through USS who are really committed to bring positive changes in the society “.
