Inception Meeting of Youth Learning Center (YLC)

Plan International Bangladesh aims to create a protective and respected environment for the children and adolescents in sponsorship areas of Plan International Bangladesh, especially those in fragile settings, to develop their full potential to become active drivers of change in transforming power relations and gender inequality through its project namely Youth Learning Center. The objective of the Youth Learning Center (YLC) is to provide a platform for easy access to own chosen learning opportunity of youth learner especially graduate SC and interested youths so that they can acquisition relevant skill and knowledge that will enrich them and contribute to the creation of new livelihoods and to improve community life by addressing and solving local problems.

OBJECTIVES of Inception Meeting:

  • Explain the goal, objectives and targets of the project
  •  Share of learning facilities in YLC
  • Create synergies with major stakeholders
  • Engage relevant sector from the start and create a healthily environmental with the government.

Program Details:

USS & Ovinandan Jointly organized an inception workshop on Youth Learning Center funded by Plan International bangladesh at Upazila conference room, Jaldhaka, Nilphamari on 11 June’2022. Md. Abdul Wahed Bahadur, Upazila Chairman of  Jaldhaka was present as chief guest and Md. Mahbub Hasan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Jaldhaka was present as chairperson in the Meeting. Principle- Technical Training Institute of Nilphamari, Upazilla Social Welfare Officer-Jaldhaka, Upazilla Youth Development Officer-Jaldhaka, Officers in Charge-Jaldhaka, Education Specialist (Plan International Bangladesh) of RDO and Executive Director of USS and Ovinandan was present as special guests. UP chairman, youth, local elite, media representatives were also present in the dialogue. Total 100 participants were present among 39 females and 61 male .Project goal & objective, Project activities details, Comments and recommendation were discussed in the meeting.

Issues and Suggestions from Participants:

Md. Abdul Awoal (Social Welfare Officer of Jaldhaka) said that half of our population is youth, if we can develop the youth, there will be national development.

Md. Ziaur Rahman (Principle, Technical Training Institute of Nilphamari) also said that We will continue our cooperation for the development of the youth.

Md. Abdul Wahed Bahadur, Upazila chairman of  Jaldhaka suggested engaging our youth  in technical education for ensuring their  employment. He also has recommended to USS, after youth training provide a certificate and some financial support to youth.

Md. Mahbub Hasan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Jaldhaka, highlighted the dream of youth. So we have to work to show their dreams.

The inception meeting was designed for participants with clear overview of the Youth learning center project, its main objectives and activities also was shared. Participants contributed to the discussions thoughtfully and participated proactively. Finally the inception meeting was ending by president’s speech.
