Observation of International Day of Girls Child’2020

Udayankur Seba Sangstha (USS) has been implementing the Project Titled “Integrated Sponsorship Funded Project in Rangpur-CNO” partnership with Plan International Bangladesh. This project has been working a lot of activities, one of these Mass awareness raising initiatives. On October 11, International day of girl’s child -2020 was held. The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls' empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. This year the theme of International Day of the Girl Child is "My voice, our equal future". The theme focuses on inclusion, gender quality and listening to what girls want, their dreams and aspirations.  

On Considering COVID-19, USS working areas Girls and youth leaders of Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts have involved in online meeting from different part of Bangladesh and demanded action against all sorts of discrimination, violence, lack of opportunities and violation of rights of girls and young women supported by Plan International Bangladesh on 10 October’2020. DG of NGO Affairs Bureau was chief guest in the online meeting. Besides country representative of UNFPA, Ambassador of Sweden to Bangladesh and Executive Director of ESDO were present as special guest. Country Director and other Plan International Bangladesh staffs were present in the online meeting.

The girls and youths pressed their call to the government, policy makers, development and corporate partners, civil society networks and other relevant stakeholders to support in their movement of achieving rights and equality.
