As per planning, Promoting Gender Equality through Local Knowledge & people’s initiative project of USS organized 2 days Gender training for member of Nari Jogajog Kengra (NJK) on 31 October to 01 November, 2014 in Nilphamari USS Training Center Supported by diakonia Bangladesh. 30 Participants including advocate, doctor, service holder, house manager, journalist attended this training. The training session was inaugurated by Alauddin Ali, Executive Director USS. 2 days training was facilitated by Dr. Md. Shaheen Rahman, Gender Specialist.
At the beginning of the training, all participants introduced themselves and everybody expressed their expectations. 12 Topics were discussed in the training. Those are training norms and Expectation, Gender Concept (Gender & Sex), Gender Role, Productive Role, Reproductive Role, Societal Role, Gender discrimination, Gender needs, Condition & Position of woman in Family or Society, Gender equality and equity, Socialization, Domestic Violence, Rights & Women Rights, Empowerment & Women Empowerment . For group work session, all participants were divided into three groups and they identified and analyzed Condition & Position of woman in Family & Society. Besides of scheduled program of the training, a brief discussion was held on Child Rights and Child Protection. An open discussion was held before the closing of the training. 15 participants expressed their opinion in this session when Alauddin Ali was present. All of them expressed their happiness for participating the training. They said that this training was very useful to understand women rights and what our role is to establish women rights and gender equality in the society. They gave thanks to USS for arranging this training. Advocate Laila Anjumanara said, “Training is necessary for both husband and wife because they have joint role in family and society.” All the participants expressed their commitment to implement learning’s of this training.
