Training of Human Right Based Approach

Udayankur Seba Sangstha (USS) and Action Aid Bangladesh (AAB) are committed to ensure the women & child rights and their development. From this commitment USS is implementing the various types of activities; Training of Human Right Based Approach (HRBA) for Staffs is one of them. As per HRBA lens right violation is the main cause of poverty. From this believed, USS is always trying to ensure rights for the people who are living in poverty. USS arranged and conducted training on HRBA under Women Initiatives for Community Development (W4CD) project funded by Action aid Bangladesh at USS, Phulbari Upazila,  Kurigram District office training room from 24th to 26th February’ 2019.  12 participants have participated to the HRBA training. This training was facilitated by Md. Kaykobad Hossain & Bimal Chandra Mondol.

 Objectives of the training are below to;

  • To build common understanding on rights and human rights dynamics in development sector.
  • To increase the facilitation skill on reflection action process for community development.

 Facilitator Md Kaykobad Hossain, provided the welcome speech for the participants and also described the background on context of the project and role of USS, AAB, Community and duty bearer for community development.

Major content of the training on HRBA are below to;

  • Poverty analysis view to HRBA approach in rural context.
  • Concept of right and human rights and its role for development.
  •  Principle of HRBA and theory of change of AAB.
  • Concept of empowerment, campaign and solidarity.
  •  Concept of Freirian education Philosophy- Banking education VS moderate (muktikami) education.
  • Concept of reflection action process and reflection action groups formulation process.
  • To facilitate step of reflection action process @ Fear to be Fear – 8 analysis- Planning and implementing of action point- Review and reflection.

Immediate outcome of the training are below:

Ø  12 participants have participated the training actively and they have known to Rights and Human rights.
Ø   They have minimum requirements of HRBA and its principle and theory of change of AAB.
Ø    Increased facilitation skill of targeted participants and facilitate the reflection and action process.   

USS is trying to create the democratic space for child and women through increasing their participation & development. Action Aid Bangladesh is continuing their support to implementing the respective activities through reflection action process.
