Celebration of the Child Rights Week -2020

Actionaid Bangladesh and its partners are trying to ensure the child rights and their development through Human Rights Based (HRBA) Approach .USS has been implementing various types of intervention to ensure the child rights; one of them is “The celebration the child rights week 2020. Under the theme of ‘Creating a new world with the children’, the Government of Bangladesh has announced ‘Child Rights Week 2020’ from 6 to 11 October. Generally, the week-long program is jointly organized by the Bangladesh Shishu Academy and Ministry of Women and Child Affairs (MOWCA) through an elaborate program plan with a view to ensuring the rights of children. According to press release of MOWCA (22 Sep 2020), since the first Monday of October month is 5th October so ‘World Children's Day’ will be observed on October 5 and in accordance to that 'Children's Rights Week 2020 of Bangladesh' will be observed from October 5-11 October 2020. Like every year, ActionAid Bangladesh and their partners has planned to celebrate Child Rights Week 2020 at the community level to ensure children’s eaningful participation and development. In the crisis of corona virus, children are staying at home with limited scope of participation in their usual activities.

 Objectives of the event are below to;

  • To ensure child participation in the child program for strengthening them to raise voice on child rights.
  • To involve children in creative thinking and express their views in order to take preventive measures for child marriage.
  •  Providing educational materials to children for encouraging them to stay active in the study
    during school closure

 The Competition was held on 05th to 11th of October 2020 .More Than 300 Children of different age group from SBK's and Child Forum's participated in the art competition and 20 Youth participated in essay competition Due to recent Pandemic Covid-19 all competitors participated from their home. Youth Volunteers of Srijoni And Proyash Youth Group delivered art materials and collected drawn pictures door to door. Among the participants 79 children were selected and got prize. Mr Ejahar Ali ,Chairman of Shimulbari Union parishad distrubuted prizes among the champions. Up members and some civil society Members were present at that moment. Youth Group Leader Lipi Rani,Pitambor bormon,Mahfuzar Rahman ,Naznin rani,Maruf Shaikh,Babli Rani,Jibon Roy and other members were also present.

Getting the prize Anam from Purbo Dhoniram Shishubikash Kendra (SBK) said,"I am happy that, I got a bag prize and now i can carry books and Khatas with this." Another participant Likhon Roy said,"my bag is too old, now I am very glad with this new bag.'
