Community Based Child Protection Committee (CBCPC) formed in 7 No ward of Mirganj UP of Jaldhaka upazila dated on 5th October, 2016. More than 50 community people of different level participated in the formation meeting. First of all a brief description was introduced about CBCPC to the community. After discussion sessions the participants identified the problems related to child rights and protection. In this session participants divided into groups and worked in a group. They also prioritized the problems and presented in front of the participants where rest of the participants shared their opinions and suggestions. After the group works the participant`s selected CBCPC committee consisting 16 members. Mr. Jaharlal Roy, UP Member of Mirganj was chaired the formation meeting and selected as president of Community Based Child Protection Committee (CBCPC). The entire professional like women UP member, teachers, health and family planning officer, Ansar VDP representatives, retired teacher, child representatives, religious leader and local elites were covered in the committee. Udayankur Seba Sangstha (USS) is implementing Child Rights and Protection (CRP) Project in Jaldhaka upazila partnership with Plan International Bangladesh to ensure the rights and protection of the children. As a part of the interventions CBCPC was formed in 7 No ward of Mirganj UP. Respectively all wards will be covered through the CBCPC so that a effective network and common understanding may be developed among the communities on child rights and protection as well as raising awareness. The formation meeting was facilitated by Pobon Malo, Project Coordinator, Md. Abdur Rahim, Technical Officer and Joydev Roy, Community Awareness Raising Trainer (CAR-T) of USS, Jaldhaka branch.
