Ketkibari union of Domar upazila declared as child marriage free union dated on 3rd June, 2015 at G.R High School field. The program was arranged by Ketkibari union parishad with the support of USS and Plan International Bangladesh. Abdur Razzak Bosunia, Upazila chairman, Domar was the chief guest in the declaration ceremony. Especial guests were Md. Shafiur Rahaman, UNO of Domar upazila, Alauddin Ali, ED USS, Md. Ayub Ali, OC (investigation) Domar thana, Md. Rezanul Kabir Mukul, Head master of G.R High School, Abdul Kader Ahmed, senior teacher of Marchent High school, Zakir Hossain, Professor of Chilahati Fazil Madrasha, Rubaiet Hossain Don, ED of SESTEV, Kalidas Roy, youth representative of Nilphamari sadar upazila. The declaration ceremony was chaired by Zahurul Hoque Pramanik (Dipu) chairman of Ketkibari union parishad. In the speeches UNO of Domar upazila said that, “not only we declaring it today but we have done a series of awareness activities behind that. Today we are declaring it so that from now we may alter for giving child marriage. Lets promise so that from now onwards no child marriage can be happened in our union”. Zahurul Houqe Pramani Dipu said in his speeches that “from now on I will not tolerate any child marriage in my union. If any parents of my union try to give child marriage he/she must get punishment under the laws of child marriage”. In the declaration ceremony near about one thousand two hundred people attended. OC (investigation) said that, I thank USS and Plan International Bangladesh for this activity. As a law enforcement department we will give all our affords so that from now no child marriage can be happened rather then we will educate our children for the future citizenship.
