Begum Rokeya Day-2015 has been observed with many activities in Palashbari union, Nilphamari on December 9, 2015 by “Promoting Gender Equality through Local Knowledge & People’s initiative” project of USS supported by Diakonia Bangladesh. At the beginning, a colorful rally moved from Palashbari Parashmoney high school field premise leaded by UP chairman and participated by Gano-gobeshona and adolescent leaders along with above 500 female and male at 10 am. After rally, sports program was started. 20 types of sports were held like Chair sitting, Bird flies, Pond across, Needle run, Ball passing, Biscuit run, Math run, 100, 200, 400 m. run, Plate run etc. 400 person participated in 20 groups. 3 of them got prize in every group through competition. 400 participated in the sports. Most of them were women. Others were adolescent. Sports event was very joyful. After completion of sports, cultural event was performed by drama group and adolescent forum. Then discussion on Begum Rokeya Day was started presided over Babu Tapan Kumer Roy, Chairman, Palashbari Union Parishad. Arifa Sultana Lavly, Vice Chairman, Nilphamari Sador was present as chief guest and Md. Mamtaj Ali Pramanik, Ex-Chairman, Polashbari UP, Mr. Uttam Kumer Roy, Head Teacher, Palashbari Girl’s High School, Md. Akbar Ali, Head teacher, Palashbari Parashmoney High School, and Alauddin Ali, Executive Director, USS were special guests. Alauddin Ali, Executive Director, USS, welcome speech in the event. Chief Guest and special guests gave little speech. They gave thanks to USS and Diakonia for arranging this very special extra ordinary Rokeya day Observation for union level right holders. After discussion session, all winner of sports received prizes from the hand of chief guest and other guests. 1800 people enjoying the sports.
